Song lyrics o' the day - Eddie Money

I've got two tickets to paradise,
Won't you pack your bags, we'll leave tonight

This song popped into my head today in the office for no apparent reason. However, I feel Eddie Money's classic track should be on RockBand. I remember hearing it with GTA: San Andreas - so really, there's no excuse. Had this line not crossed my mind, I'm sure Take me Home Tonight would have made it on here sooner or later. Eddie Money - still touring. Awesome.

Song lyrics o' the day - Wade Hemsworth

If you should ask any girl from the parish around
What pleases her most from her head to her toes
She'll say, "I'm not sure that it's business of yours
But I do like to waltz with a log driver"

Like maple syrup, The Log Driver's Waltz is all Canada. If you haven't seen this, you aren't canadian. It is our version of Dirty Dancing, only Johnny Castle is wearing a red touque. Thanks to JH for forwarding me the link!

Song lyrics o' the day - Dire Straits

We've got to move these refridgerators
We've got to move these color tvs

I went a bit OCD on the cleaning this weekend. I think I've joined the
ranks of the elite and am totally ready to be a housewife should my
country ever call upon me to do so. Anyway, this Dire Straits song
has been stuck in my head for a few days now and I kept singing it
while scrubbing the floor.

Note: there was an epic battle between me and the grime on the glass
stovetop. Something I didn't know before: take a razor blade to it!
You still have to work the gunshow, but man, I finally got all of that
junk off!

Cleanliness is next to godliness, you know.

Song lyrics o' the day - Bon Iver

I'm in love with your honor
I'm in love with your cheeks
What's that noise up the stairs babe?
Is that Christmas morning creaks?

The new Bon Iver is only four songs, but I'm digging it. Turns out, it IS pronounced as the french would say - Bon hiver. Behold the exciting kinds of things you learn when you have friends that do nothing all day except surf the world wide web!

Song lyrics o' the day - FIRST GUEST LYRICS EVER

In the swirling, curling storm of desire unuttered words hold fast.

With reptile tongue, the lightning lashes towers built to last.

Darkness creeps in like a thief and offers no relief.

Why are you shaking like a leaf?

Come on, come talk to me

Ok, so Sean suggested some lyrics from his fave Peter Gabriel song for Song lyrics o' the day. I'm posting them, mostly because they are good, but partially because it is an excuse to link to his blog AND SEAN IS AWESOME.

Song lyrics o' the day - Ice Cube

You better check yo self before you wreck yo self
Cos I'm bad for your health, I come real stealth

Ice Cube, Baby! 99, baby. Tick, tick boom! Ok, fine, I recognize those are two differents songs, but as soon as you SAY Ice Cube, you instantly want to put your back into it, no matter what you are actually referencing. I thought of these lyrics because of a Russian Futurists' song These Seven Notes. The Russian Futurists also do a great cover of Wonderwall. Dreamy. Canada really does make amazing music. I have a theory about this: ALL THE SNOW! What else are we going to do with all of our time? Theory number two: Revenge of the Nerds. Remember when the popular girl got it on with the nerd and was totally impressed? Same thing. We have the big giant jock right beside us, so we gotta work on other skillz to impress the ladies. Just sayin'

Random thoughts o' the day.

Song lyrics o' the day - Keane

Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

You know, as someone who thinks they are cooler because they like cool music, I sometimes struggle with liking bands like Keane, but then I read Alain de Botton's Status Anxiety and realized that what you think of me for liking Keane is probably the least important part of me day. hoo-ray for Keane!
